Our Process
Preparation
Prior to preparation, the area to be tiled needs to be free of any prior coatings (epoxy, tile, paint, etc.) To prep the area we must make sure the substrate can accept thin-set, is sloped away from the structure and waterproofing is installed allowing for proper water distribution.
Installation
Installing tile takes into consideration a number of factors including but not limited to: freeze-thaw cycles, using exterior grade products and water flow. Using best practices ensures a long lasting investment. Note: Completing an outdoor tiling project is best installed in fair weather.
Grouting
The next step is grouting your project with your color choice. Best practice is to let the grout dry long enough to cure.
Caulking
The final step for your project is caulking all expansion joints to allow for movement. Note: Industry standards for expansion joints are every 8 to 12 feet and all perimeter.

Frequently Asked Questions
We've answered some of the most frequently asked questions about outdoor tiling and our process.
No, grout and tile are not waterproof. The waterproofing is done behind the tile. The absorption rate for water depends solely on the tile and grout that you choose. All tile will absorb some water.
